About

mairi, the maker behind maram jewellery in her studio with a garden backdrop

Hi! I'm Mairi Armes, and I'm the maker behind maram jewellery. I'm a one woman business making gorgeous Sterling Silver jewellery from my studio just outside Edinburgh in Scotland. Currently specialising in making Birthstone Family Rings, my ranges also includes pendants, statement necklaces, and Seaglass Bracelets. I love adding bright bursts of colour to my work.

My silversmithing journey began when I was still at school when I was encouraged to push the boundaries of the jewellery I was making - that's where I first used a saw and a jewellers torch to heat, melt and join metal and I was hooked! I then completed a Silversmithing and Jewellery course at college in Glasgow, and gained entry to Edinburgh College of Art.  Art School and I didn't get along, I left after a year, and the next thing I knew I was in London working away in Interior Design. My tools were left behind because of my tiny flat, and my creativity was needed elsewhere. A few years later and a move back to Scotland to a house with a room to work meant I could set up my workshop again. And I've been making ever since. Despite my early training, I'm mainly self-taught but am very much looking forward to completing some professional training in new techniques later this year to expand my skills.

Everything in maramjewellery is done by my own fair hands, from raw material ordering to invoicing, to designing, creating, making, photographing, styling, selecting, packaging and sending. I run the business on my own and every time someone makes a purchase I am so thankful you are supporting my dream!

I also have stores on Etsy and Folksy - feel free to pop over and have a look at either store and read my reviews, and you can also access my website reviews here.

If you want to know more about me and my work,  you can also connect with me on Facebook, and Instagram
